Viljami Kutvonen wins at Russian Touring Masters

The 2015 Russian Touring Masters was held in Agalatavo, around 10km outside of St. Petersburg. The race attracted the fastest drivers from Russia and fast Fin Viljami Kutvonen. The grip was expected to be low so Sweep 24 tyres were chosen as handout tyre for the event, which proved to be the right choice in the end. Right from the start Viljami Kutvonen topped the timing sheets followed by Georgy Chmigal in 2nd, Kirill Trofimov 3rd and Denis Zuykov 4th. Cristian Villar wins at Galician regional champs Rd1

Last weekend the Galician regional championship started in Vilagarcia, on a much faster and more enjoyable layout than last year. On Sunday morning the qualifying began and Cristian Villar showed great performance from early on, taking the TQ with a lap record in the two qualifying runs, taking the TQ 9 seconds ahead of the second place driver. In the semifinal A he would dominate again and with a much higher pace he crossed the finish line with a 30 seconds gap on the next driver. The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series makes one final stop in the mountains at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia for round 7, the Mid Winter Challenge which was hosted by the TVRCRC. This club each season relocates its track and equipment to a beautiful indoor facility offering great racing and great viewing for the public. Shepherd have announced the re-signing of former European Champion B, multiple German Championship and multiple European Championship finalist Patrick Nähr. It will be the 5th season with Shepherd for the talented German driver who finished 9th at the last Euro A in Valencia. After joining only two ENS races last year Patrick plans to attend all of this year’s events as well as the German Nationals in Leipzig and the European Championship in Izmir. Panic & Kato win at Malaysia National League Rd2

Round 2 of the Malaysia National League was held at 3 Stone Park and it saw a total of 72 racers in attendance from Malaysia, Australia, Switzerland and Indonesia. The race was divided into the two classes of Pro and Semi Pro and the race format was five rounds of 10 minutes qualifying with three best rounds to count followed Christmas tree finals. The Pro International class was won by Ben Panic in front of Jason Nugroho and Didier Perrin while in the Semi Pro class Danny Kato came out successful from Riffat H and Ryan Stocek. Jason Nugroho wins Indonesia Buggy Nationals Rd1

The opening round of the 2015 Indonesia Buggy Nationals was held at the MRCC track in Medan, North Sumatra. Adrian Wicaksono took the TQ but in the 60 minute final it was Jason Nugroho who came out successful in front of Adrian Wicaksono and Stanley Wangsanegara. Danish 1/8th Off-Road Nationals Rd1 – Report

The first round of the Danish 1/8th Off-Road nationals attracted a total of around 90 drivers from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Norway to compete in Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and Electric Buggy classes. The track layout was very challenging and fun to race with a combination of a very big jump and difficult landing section on the straight, an “American wupti section” and some tight and flowing corners and sweepers. Stoltz sweeps Buggy classes at Turnpike Tussle Series

Kickin’ Dirt Raceway in Somerset, PA was the location for the Turnpike Tussle series, held on three weekends throughout February and March. The series brought in drivers from all parts of the region along with an interesting concept for R/C racing: single day races with extremely limited practice time and a fresh track layout for each event with no “drop races”. Consistent top performances would be the key to success in the series that drew over 105 entries on average per event. Water & Jones win at Silverstone Winter Series

Nathan Waters has won the very competitive 2WD Silverstone Winter Series against some of the best off-road drivers in Britain. The event took place over 6 rounds on an indoor high-grip astroturf track and attracted 136 entries. In the final round Nathan set a convincing TQ, but the race win went to Lloyd Storey, with 2nd Iain Mellish, and 3rd Dave Poulter, all driving Schumacher buggies. This result meant that Lloyd secured 2nd in the championship and Dave Poulter 3rd. The Tennessee Winter Championship race was help this past weekend at Thunder R/C in Nashville. Robert Dirla has held the Winter Championship race for several years now, and a tight challenging layout awaited over 120 entries at this first weekend of spring event. Instead of trophies, Dirla awarded half the entry fees for each class split among the top three finishers and the dash for cash was on. Russian company Insane-RC introduce the new Carpet Fighter 1/10th scale short course truck tyres and a line of foam inserts. Starting with the tyre, it is developed for high-grip indoor carpet racing and it sports specially designed inner ribs for improved carcass stiffness which makes for much better stability especially in high-speed corners as the ribs minimise the gab between the tyre and the wheel. Deerdale played host to round 1 of the BRCA E-buggy national championship with a great turnout of drivers. However the weather did its best to ruin the event with strong winds and constant rain. Flowood R/C Indoor Park hosted the second Annual Jamie Rogers Memorial Race this past weekend. The layout designed by Marc Beck provided some very interesting and intense racing. The “whoop” section was a challenge for everyone at some point and became a great equalizer. 10 classes with 150 entries raced for 1st thru 5th and TQ and in the Expert Nitro Buggy class Cole Ogden TQ’d but finished 2nd behind Blake Boggs.
