The Ryans Steel the Show, with Phend left to take Stadium Truck at the 2015 Pro-Line Surf City Classic

This weekend was the prestigious 2015 Pro-Line Surf City Classic held at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, California. With some of the best factory drivers in attendance, the stakes were already high, but with $250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third in every class except rookie,  a good showing meant more than just bragging rights. In the premiere mod buggy classes, it was TLR’s Ryan Maifield who was looking to repeat his dominating performance of 2014 and with TQ in both 2WD and 4WD buggy things were going his way. But, with a format of a ten-minute, single…

More New Gear at the 2015 Pro-Line Surf City Classic

I already teased with a few new things I saw at the event, but that’s not all of the things on hand. My camera and notepad are always searching out the cool stuff and here are a few more. LRP “Outlaw” I was able to corner Shawn Ireland and JD Mora and discuss their new LRP batteries they introduced to the market. Labeled as “Outlaw,” these LiPo batteries have the ability to be charged up to a higher voltage of 4.35 volts per volts (8.7 volts total) than traditional packs of 4.2 volts per cell (8.4 volts total). Normally this would make them…

2015 Pro-Line Surf City Classic: Things Are Under Way

We are at OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, California for the 2015 Pro-Line Surf City Classic and qualifying has started for this two-day event. Known for setting the standards for indoor clay tracks, the event is already showing great traction with “ghost pins” being used by all involved. That’s making everyone happy and contributing to close racing without the need for slick tires and wild set-ups. Yep, there is serious racing going, but a light atmosphere since the event has limited entries making for relatively short days for the chosen few at the event. I use chosen few …

It was eventually the reigning European B Champion to snatch the top spot from Marco with a 5 points advantage over the second throwout. Behind them, Stocco had some good but inconsistent qualifiers, ending the day with a DNF with a broken servo but…

The mount, that supports both a longitudinal and transversal battery position, attaches to the existing battery plate and included in the set comes the plate, one long and two short aluminium posts as well as mounting hardware.
