The first day of qualifying started off with an epic drivers meeting with ROAR Official Bob Ingersoll on the mic. The track looked to be back in great shape once a few holes got repaired after yesterday’s practice. Top seed, Jared Tebo, crashed early in the race and fell to the back of the pack in 2wd Short Course Modified. After the race he said the track had much more traction than usual and made his truck really hard to drive. Team Associated is pleased to introduce a 12mm hex drive front wheels for the RC10B4 and RC10B4.1 buggies. Available soon or already are plastic wheel hex adapters including shims and drive pins, B4 front axles for hex use, SC10 steering blocks to go with the hex axles as well as white and yellow 12mm hex disc front wheels. Nor-Cal Hobbies is located in Union City, Ca. (Just minutes south-east San Francisco) and is your host of the of the 2011 ROAR Electric Nats. The facility boasts and indoor carpet track, outdoor asphalt track, not one but two off-road tracks and a well-stocked hobby shop. The larger of the two off-road tracks is where the event is being run and the indoor carpet track has been covered to allow for ample pitting out of the sun. Ty Tessmann wins Nitro Stampede II Race

Ty Tessmann got in touch to tell us about his recent success at the Nitro Stampede II Race in Calgary/AB. With some of the best drivers in Canada in attendance along with Richard Saxton from AE, he was able to take the TQ and win in all three classes including 1/8 scale Buggy and Truggy. In the Buggy class he left Team Associated’s Richard Saxton and Peter Tozer (Associated) behind and also managed to stay ahead of the pack in the Truggy class by beating Peter Tozer (Associated) and Dave Elia (TLR). Team Associated factory team drivers Rick Hohwart and Jeff Cuffs were victorious in the 13.5 and 17.5 TC classes at the 2011 ROAR on-road Nationals at Jackson R/C Raceway in Jackson, NJ. Rick Hohwart dominated the 13.5 class by qualifying first in each of the four qualifying rounds to claim the pole position. Keeping the streak intact, Rick went on to win legs one and two to wrap up his 10th national championship. Jeff Cuffs made things a little more interesting.
