Keven Hébert provided the following report: “Rapid Competition Raceway in Grand Rapids, Michigan was the site of the second leg of the 2011/2012 Midwest Grand Slam Series. A slightly different race format than the previous round meant that the entire program would run on Saturday and Sunday. Practice early Saturday morning was followed by three rounds of qualifying. A final round of qualifying and the main events were scheduled for Sunday. Some of the best names from the Midwest were in attendance in both TC and 1/12. Sigma Tires Get First International Success!
“New company Sigma Racing had a first taste of success last week in the Eastern Mediterannean island of Cyprus. Costas Agrafiotis won the Dirt Paradise race over there, using the Ace Sigma Tires, after a big fight during the qualifs and a great 35 minutes final. The tires never tired. The qualifs were 30 minutes long with the best times counting and Costas with the Sigma tires managed the second best time between a very good competition and the other brands mainly AKA and Proline. Thunder Alley RC Raceway 2012 Race Dates
The GRRS is in its 3rd year and with the great sucess of last years average attendance of 160 entries per event we have made some tweaks to please our racers and make the race days more enjoyable. Saturday dates will be ran with only the Short Course Trucks & buggys racing. Sundays will be the Nitro classes & 1/8 E-Buggy racing . Paul Sinclair drove the new Gen 5.2 prototype of the X Factory X – 7 4WD car to third place in a very competitive field at the J Concepts Clash.
